GoRetro and Retrium are two good options when it comes to sprint retrospective platforms. Depending on your team, one of the two will surely fulfill all your dev team’s wants and needs. We built GoRetro from the ground up during the Covid era in order to serve modern teams as they navigate this new world of remote/hybrid retrospective meetings. Retrium, which started as a side project, grew more popular over the years.
When it comes time to get your organization’s processes in order, the first step is knowing you need a solution. But the next step, actually picking and onboarding a new platform, is where things get tricky.
👉 Both GoRetro and Retrium offer similar basic functionality for running your next retrospective meeting, but GoRetro shines when it comes to deep data integration and top of the line security features right from the free tier (and not just for the enterprise tier).

Whether you're a Fortune 100 company or a smaller startup organizing a retrospective meeting, our review can help you narrow down your choices and decide which retrospective tool is right for your needs. GoRetro is a free SOC-2 certified, online sprint management tool that facilitates the entire sprint process; from planning to retrospective in a simple, collaborative and data-driven way. GoRetro is used by thousands of Agile teams across the globe, from garage startups to the biggest enterprises in the world (over 20% of S&P 500 companies use GoRetro), and constantly praised for its simplicity, ease of use, and flexibility.
Retrium lets you organize your teammates and all your retrospective documentation in one place. Your team can ensure psychological safety with private rooms, and everyone can share feedback openly because comments are anonymous. It's easy to explore previous meeting details and review completed retrospectives.
Both GoRetro and Retrium have the same basic features, which will be covered in the next sections. The main difference comes at the integration level. Retrium lets you integrate with Jira to export action items, whereas GoRetro utilizes a deeper level of integration. With its advanced data driven features, GoRetro gives you superpowers. You can say goodbye to juggling endless spreadsheets and tabs. Use your real-time sprint data to run better retros and improve your team’s performance; get a sense of what is happening, identify gaps in planning, and see what your team actually spends their time on. GoRetro will allow you to analyze your sprints to identify trends, track improvements and uncover stumbling blocks. On average, we managed to increase participation by 80%. Save time on technical preparation and focus on what's important: getting better.
GoRetro allows you to create private password-protected boards or public boards that can be shared via a URL. The platform has a variety of user roles, which include account admin, team admin, and team member. The account admin can view and manage all boards and create and manage teams; the team admin can view and manage teams and boards they belong to; and individual team members can only view and create boards in the team they are in.
When using Retrium, team members can see everything that is going on in an active team room. However, there are a variety of roles the platform provides to keep your information safe from people outside your organization. The visitor role, for instance, is for short-term employees that only participate in one or few team rooms. Visitors can facilitate and participate in retrospectives, view action items and retrospective history, but can only view the team rooms and members of team rooms that were invited to join.
The member role is default: members can do everything that visitors can, view all team rooms in an organization, and invite or remove others from their team rooms. Managers can do everything members can as well as create and deactivate team rooms. Lastly, the admin role can do everything a manager can, in addition to editing organization settings, managing billing information.
Both GoRetro and Retrium have a variety of retrospective templates to make it easier for your team to create boards. Additionally, both platforms allow you to create customized boards from scratch. Retrium allows you to save custom templates to use with other teams when necessary. Both platforms allow team members to vote on certain ideas or discussion topics, and you can create cards in various colors to keep the board interesting and interactive.
GoRetro provides a space for you to plan every aspect of your sprint, from beginning to end. Capacity Planning for each team member is now clearer and easier than ever with the GoRetro Capacity Planning Dashboard. GoRetro also supports different estimation techniques and various score summarization methods from syncing your backlog management tool with GoRetro. This, combined with GoRetro's deep Jira integration that allows teams to see their velocity, carryover, buffers, and planned-versus-actual trends makes GoRetro's Sprint Planning tools everything your team needs.
